Sewing quilts to support the Japanese

The Japanese earthquake appeal is something close to our hearts, so we love this: Quilts for Japan are sewing quilts to support the Japan appeal.

Quilts for Japan seem to be doing a great job at rounding up volunteers to both sew quilts for the project as well as donate old quilts (we suppose not everyone has the sewing skills or sewing equipment necessary).

Their website even gives information about certain designs that are not suitable due to inappropriate associations, such as black-and-white stripes (which the Japanese associate with funerals), as well as red-and-white stripes (which the Japanese associate with celebrations)

This is a US company, so participation from the UK will be quite difficult, however, if you do wish to donate to this worthwhile cause, Please click here and make a donation through Google Crisis Response Japan.
